61Highest Paying Work From Home Jobs
Working from home is not all small time any longer. There are quite a few positions opening up, and jobs being created that pay substantial salaries. If you are planning for your future, and do not see working in a 9-5 as part of your life, you should consider some of these work from home jobs.
You may need a degree, but after all is finalized, you will be a lot happier working from home and earning the same amount, rather than being stuck in an office cubicle. Think about whether or not you could see yourself doing one of these jobs.
Web Software Engineer / Developers ($72,000/year)
The age of the internet is among us. Web based applications are requiring more and more from both the developers that code them, and the servers that house them. Being a well rounded web software engineer and developer can earn you large amounts of money if you are able to market yourself properly.
Most businesses do not have a clue about how to grow the technology side of their operations, which is where strong developers and engineers come into play. Knowing how the internet operates, and how to program computers are two huge assets in any economy.
Financial / Retirement Planners ($60,000/year)
As people begin to age, retirement becomes more and more of a reality, rather than some far off dream they have been working for so long to achieve. Smart, educated financial planners are in high demand, especially during tough economic times.
If you know can help people setup their retirement accounts, and ensure they continually earn on any plans you implement, you will be a shoe-in for a financial planning position. A large number of planners are choosing to go their own path, finding clients on their own rather than working for an agency or firm.
Freelance writers poll
How much money per year do you earn from freelace writing?
See results without votingFreelance Writer ($45,000/year)
Making money with freelance writing is another work from home opportunity, although it is becoming more competitive. The opportunities for you as a freelance writer are almost endless. From writing blog posts, promotional and review articles, magazine type editorial works, or even just converting text to webpages, you can find freelance writing work fairly easily.
You usually get paid per word, though some companies and clients will pay you on a per job basis. Getting paid per word may seem more lucrative, but you can usually earn more money doing pay-per-job style gigs, rather than earning by how much you type.
I would also appreciate it if any freelancers reading this would fill in my poll as I took this guesstimate of earnings from a very small group of writers.

Good collection of options, looking forward to know more. Keep the good work up. Thank you for the lists.
You can add tax preparer to the list, Mark. I started my practice out of my basement back in 1982. My business (and ego) grew until I bought an office building, hired staff, and worked the obligitory hours of a full-time accountant.
Now I have an action plan to cut back to about 50 of my best clients and work out of my home again. It will take 3-5 years to complete the process. Then I can enjoy my writing.
FYI: The WICPA reported last year that 80% of CPAs and other tax professionals will retire or will be of retiring age (65+) in 5 years. There is good oppportunity in the tax preparation, accounting, bookkeeping, payroll field.
As always Mark, your articles are fun to read and informative.
