Buying A Goodall Guitar

James Goodall designs and manufactures guitars with the same gusto as he does everything else in his life. With the practice of vision, perfection, and persistence, he began his career in the world of building fine instruments with modern symphony flutes. He was satisfied with just building fine instruments so he created some new challenges for himself by bringing ideas to life when it came to improving the mechanisms that made the instruments work.

Every time James wanted to learn something new, he would learn everything he could about it and work with whatever it was until he became an expert at it. It was just this type of perseverance that lead to building guitars. James had a natural mechanical, design and woodworking skills so he built his first guitar. This guitar was a maple Jumbo that had a mother of pearl inlay. T

he success of building this first guitar gave James the confidence he needed to continue in the guitar design and building of guitars. Before long, James was taking orders and making guitars for friends and family.

James built his first guitar in Lemon Grove, CA, in 1978. By year 1981, James had relocated his business to Mendocino, CA where he began building about 40 instruments a year. In 1992, he moved, to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, his current location.

This is where he is determined to continue design and build his guitars with the Goodall tone so that each guitar sounds as though he made it himself. In order to meet the needs of any guitarist, the Goodall guitar family consists of a series of six different guitars. Each guitar comes with a variety of choices of wood and other features that make it a one of a kind Goodall.

The main features each Goodall guitar comes with include; a Sitka spruce top, Abalone rosette & a slotted diamond fretboard inlay, satin finish neck, ebony fretboard, bridge, bridge pins & end pin, chrome tuners and bone nut & saddle.

There are also a variety of other options for the type of wood used, back and sides, inlays, and bindings just to name a few. Each guitar is designed and custom made for the artist. It is important to the life of your new Goodall guitar that it be cared for properly.

This care includes storing the guitar in its case when not in use and keeping it in a humidity range of only 40% to 70%. The guitars are built in a controlled humidity environment of 40%. In order to maintain this level of humidity you may need to purchase a humidifier.
