By Mark Knowles
Which is the best pay as you go cell phone provider?
With the influx of different providers for pay as you go cell phones coming onto the market in previous years, how do you choose the perfect plan?
There are quite a few issues people have had with their prepaid cell phones. Problems have plagued the industry, ranging from outrageously expensive costs, or poor quality phones, but some providers manage to stay away from the troubles. Here are some providers that continue to provide both quality and value to their users.
T-Mobile – T-Mobile offers quite a few different payment options for prepaid plans. Their Pay As You Go plan allows you to purchase the amount of minutes you can afford or think you will use. Once those run out, your phone will be deactivated until you purchase more. You are also able to pay by the day, only being charged on days that you use the phone.
T-Mobile’s FlexPay monthly plan operates the same as their monthly contracts, but allows you to pay up front, and provides unlimited usage. T-Mobile also provides a SideKick plan that includes unlimited text and talk, built specifically for the features found on the SideKick phone.
AT&T Prepaid – AT&T pay as you go cell phones are another flexible option. Offering pay as you go ranging from $.10 to $.25 per minute, or an unlimited $60 per month plan, AT&T provides choices for every situation. $60 per month gives you unlimited talk and text. MediaNet is offered through AT&T for data and downloading web applications.
Boost Mobile – Boost Mobile is known for their walkie-talkie functions, and creative ad campaigns. With Boost you can pay by the month, paying up front, or you can purchase a set amount of minutes on refill cards.
Pay by the month plans are unlimited talk, text, web, and walkie-talkie. Boost Mobile provides some of the best content out of any pay as you go cell phones provider, which is one of their biggest selling points.
Metro PCS – Metro PCS has spent large amounts of money to expand their market reach, and have finally started including pay as you go and prepaid plans into their lineup. One downfall, though, is that Metro still does not provide full nationwide coverage which means that you could end up paying roaming charges without realizing it. If you know that the area you live in is covered, Metro is a great prepaid cell phone provider that offers competitive pricing.
Virgin Mobile – Marketed towards a younger group of people, Virgin Mobile offers pay as you go cell phones that are loaded with social features such as email, text, web, music, pictures and video. You can pay up front for an entire months usage or purchase refill cards, depending on your financial situation.
Virgin mobile has some of the higher end models of phones available for cheaper than other providers.

Thanks for this information.
I've gone to the prepaid phone this year. I'm not glued to my cell it's a phone not part of my anatomy. My husband and I have saved over $100 a month kicking the land line to the curb and using prepaid service. Thanks for the valuable advice.
