Lesbian Dating sites

Some might find it surprising to see a man writing about lesbian dating sites, but if you think about it - I would say I am uniquely qualified to be impartial on this subject, although I must admit, getting a hub guaranteed to annoy my evangelical religious friends in to the hot hubs section of the site is a tempting prospect.

I will say up-front that I have never used a dating site – lesbian or otherwise. In fact – I find the whole idea pretty entertaining and my natural cynicism leads me to believe that most of them are cons, will not provide what they say they do and will make heaps of money preying on lonely, unhappy people. The simple fact that the term, “lesbian dating sites,” is an extremely high paying google adword is enough to persuade me of that fact. Which may give you an inkling as to why this weeks hubmob revolves around lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues and another reason to write this hub.

I was a little shocked to discover just how many lesbian dating sites there are on the internet, and like many other subjects, most of them seem to be regurgitating the same rubbish as all the other ones. Another warning shot across the bows.

Personally – I have no problem with people being gay, transsexual or just about whatever else they choose to indulge in. As far as I am concerned, that is their business and it never ceases to amaze me just how many people – mostly right wing, reactionary religionists - feel they have a right to interfere with some one else’s personal choices. I really don’t care what you get up to in your spare time as long as it doesn’t interfere with me, and I do not see how some one’s personal sexual preferences can interfere with any one else. Sure, if I catch you making wild passionate love to my lawnmower in my back yard at two-o-clock in the morning, I am not going to be terribly impressed, but apart from that, knock yourself out. Anyway, back to the meat-free content of the matter.

Best Lesbian Dating Sites

This is a list of the five most popular lesbian dating sites on the ‘net.

  1. LesbianPersonals.com offers services exclusively to gay and bisexual women and is owned and operated by AdultFriendFinder, which leads me to think it will attract ladies looking for a quick fling.
  2. Pink Cupid is all about the money, as I suspected would be the case. You can sign up for free and chat anonymously to your heart’s content, but if you want to contact anyone whose profile appeals it is going to cost you.
  3. GaydarGirls.com is part of a network of gay dating sites and as with all the others, is free to sign up for, but will cost you if you want to meet some one.
  4. The Pink Sofa sells itself as a “lesbian community,” and costs money again to arrange a date.
  5. Girls.PARSHIP.co.uk is part of a network of dating sites once again – although the emphasis seems to be on finding a permanent partner rather than a one night stand or chat.

I am not sure I see the point in any of these dating sites. Finding any impartial figures as to the chances of meeting some one also suggests a great big con. Realistically – what are the chances of logging into one of these places and finding some one within dating range? Exactly. For my money, the grocery store has always been as good a place as any to meet people, and I would think that applies to gay people as well as straight.

Now there's a coincidence - I published a hub of a similar title myself recently- do any of these dating sites operate in Lesbos? :-) I'd rather hang around Greek tavernas than grocery stores myself!

How about that - we must have both read the same forum thread lol

It took two non-Americans to act on it though -does that surprise you ?

Exactly :-) And as you say, this goes for gay or straight.

@ Lissie - Not really :)

@ Elena - no question.

;D Interesting read.

Can I suggest checking out Lesbotronics.com and Grrl2grrl.com for your impartial research? Lesbotronics is completely free and has an unique method of finding local partners.  Grrl2grrl.com, while mostly free, does have a VIP premium membership, but still good quality site.  These high quality sites are less likely to be found in advertisements.  These were things I discovered for my own bisexual nature years ago.

I think I would differentiate 'best' in quality from 'most popular'. But you hit the nail on the head. It's better to be active in your own community and knowing who's who in your area than to search online. However, most bisexuals, lesbians, and gays will probably tell you - it's a bit harder to figure out who's not straight unless you're involved in local movement. The shy ones are more likely to use the personals, too. ;)

I totally agree on personal choices. Seriously, Mark, why throw the dog in, though? Making out with a dog is totally different than making out with a human being regardless of gender.  Yuck! Not a pleasant image, but thanks anyway! ;P

Just for a little fun. :) And to point out that although you and I might think that - there seems to be an awful lot of people who think being gay is as offensive as that. ;)

True that. It never fails that there will be those with irrational and strange logic. In any case, I still loved your hub!

Sweet, are men allowed to join? I'd definitely be up for dating some lesbians.

@ Sunny and Red - OK - edited the pooch

Mark K. - there was mention of being unimpressed if someone made "wild passionate love to my lawnmower in my back yard at two-o-clock in the morning" but couldn't find mention of a dog? - I agree that the greek taverna sounds good ....good hub/review if indeed I wished to pursue the subject...cheers

The lawnmower replaced the pooch which was not as funny as I intended it to be :)

Well, the lawnmower was funny, but the dog would have been funnier. Everybody gets offended these days. That offends me.

I am a right wing nut, but found nothing offensive in your hub just so you know. In fact, as I was reading I remembered something. Sean Hannity always talks about conservative values and faith. One could easily construe that he is a Christian, (of course that applies to Muslims and Jews as well). Being a suspicious young goat, I checked his dating website, which he endorses: Hannidate. Wouldn't you know it, there was a place for homosexuals too.

One might argue that you can be a gay Christian, but if you're really conservative and fundamental like Hannity acts, then this would be a big hypocrisy. I can't stand the guy anymore.

Well - I thought the dog was funny, but...........

Sunny Robinson profile image

Sunny Robinson 2 years ago

Lol, oh Mark. The dog *was* funny! I was just commenting with the thought process that most people do, for some reason, equate bestiality with homosexuality, as you also said. Haha, it was a gross image in my head which I thought I reacted appropriately with "yuck!" in my comment, but still funny.

I'm sorry, I was in no way wishing for you to censor or change your hub! It is your hub after all. :)

No worries, I can take constructive feedback and I was really going for funny rather than "YUK" lol

Very interesting info here. Thanks for this hub. Some quite different views in the comments, but women who fancy women will always find ways. There are good hubs on this subject here on hubs. Well done, an honest take I think on girl-girls.

Inquiring minds want to know...how is it again that lesbian dating sites differ from hetero dating sites? Just curious...interesting read tho I would disagree with one little issue...that sexual orientation is a choice...

tnderhrt23 profile image

tnderhrt23 Level 5 Commenter 2 years ago

post-script: I mean really...exactly how old were you when you "chose" to be attracted to the opposite sex?

Mark Knowles profile image

Mark Knowles Hub Author 2 years ago

WTF are you talking about? Lesbian dating sites cater to lesbian women. hetero dating sites cater to heterosexuals. They both rip people off and do not provide what they promise.

But - what business is it of your if I was attracted to the opposite sex?

I don't care what you think or how offended you are by homosexuals - your opinion is worthless garbage. I hope none of you kids turn out gay.

Exactly how old were you when you "chose" to be judgmental and close minded?

And I am a man. Guess you did not even bother reading what I wrote? Or look at my profile.

Just stopped by to explain how ignorant you are about homosexuality did you? Well done - I am convinced. LOL

Smiling sheepishly...guess I mis-communicated, totally, Mark. I am a lesbian woman, with a gay son, as well as two straight sons. I am probably as open-minded about homosexuality and heterosexuality as it comes. I apologize for offending, which I obviously did. That was absolutely NOT my intent. My point was that I think alot of dating sites are a rip off, most definately alot of lesbian sites, but hetero sites as well. Been to both...was just curious about why you chose to write about "lesbian" sites in particular. I tossed in the idea about "choice" versus preference because I truly don't believe a person's sexual persuasion is a choice, at least not for most. Again, I humbly apologize for my mis-communicated points.

Sincerely...

LOL

No worries. I think a lot of dating sites are a rip off - and I said so :)

There are an awful lot of close minded conservative "christians" here and I get a lot of comments from them so I assumed you were another one - sorry - yes - they do offend me - I mean - what business is it of theirs some one else's sexual orientation? LOL

You should see some of the comments I get on my anti-religion hubs :)

I totally understand. I honestly did read your article, and think I did get it...smiling again. I am a "believer" also but very open-minded...have way too much experience with "fundamental, hard-core conservatives" thus I understand your response. And I don't think I really want to see the comments you get...would just inflame my ire!!! Thanks for your response, and the welcome...will try to be more clear in my communications. Humbly yours,

i think it all comes down to honesty, no matter your dating online or in a club or a bar, if one is not truthful, the relationship will never work, now as for online dating, i have noticed most lie about e.g their weight, their look, their background and history, etc. and in real life face to face dating, they will just find another lie, its a vicious circle, but anyhow, we cant all give up just yet :)

I've noticed on most lesbian dating sites, that you can't pick which type of lesbian you want. Some of us may go for femmes, but not all of us. Preference choice is lacking. Booooo. lol

Just read your hub, and I would bet that most of the online and many offline dating services are a big ripoff. Doesn't really matter what category. And I agree with the none of your business theory.

Christina 17 months ago

Thanks for the article. Of course there are many more lesbian dating websites out there. I think I saw a couple listed above which are good as well, that I personally visit. Another one is Grrlz Rock, www.grrlzrock.com. They are a free lesbian dating website for lesbians and bisexual women, and offer more tools than most of the lesbian dating websites I've seen. Such as an audio/video chat room, and an advanced compatability which in my opinion is on the same level as many of the bigger sites out there that you see.

Saw this popup in featured articles during a random browse - upon seeing the author I had to check it out!

You definitely aren't trying to sell these dating sites are you? LOL

But you are right about dating sites. I've found that about 40% of the interesting looking profiles are people who signed up and have never come back. Out of the total users on those sites, it's probably similar to HP when it comes down to how many actually hang around.

And I love how dating sites say they are 'free' when in fact they are free only to sign up or wink at someone. To actually talk you have to shell out the dollars.
