HubChallenge 100 hubs in 30 days
59
Welcome to my assault on Hubpages’ HubChallenge. Although I have been writing at hubpages for some time, I must admit to not having had the first clue about writing online when I first started here – and hubpages has provided me with some fantastic learning experiences. Otherwise known as “mistakes” made ☺
There is so much misinformation being bandied around about how to make money writing online it is almost impossible to sort the wheat from the chaff. You can make money writing online – I do. I have written several hubs about making a living online and this is my latest step towards making more money.
The HubChallenge will naturally generate a lot of interest and Ryan Hupfer will be doing his best to make sure that interest spreads outside of the hubpages community.
I have chosen to do 100 hubs in 30 days, which should put some pressure on me - hopefully not enough pressure that I crack. After much consideration I have decided to stick to a set formula, which I think takes advantage of the hubpages layout as far as ad optimization goes (next hub will be about ad optimization on hubpages).
Each of my hubs for the HubChallenge will be 400 words with one photograph. I will also write a short blog post with a backlink to the hub on my personal blog and I will twitter each hub using the HubChallenge hashmark.
During the challenge that is as much promotional work as I will be doing. Afterwards – I should have time to properly promote them, but I am banking on the HubPages team and involvement of all the other hubbers taking part to be a good basis for promoting them. I will also go back afterwards and correct any mistakes made – as I am sure to do trying to write 40,000 words in a month on top of my usual workload.
Why am I doing it? Apart from the potential income. Simple – I am bored. Although there is a certain attraction to working at home and I really enjoy the freedom to work when I please – after two years of doing so, I am finding that I do not get enough interaction with people. It just isn’t the same as meeting people in the “real” world. Not something I had considered when I started, but hopefully the HubChallenge will perk me up a little, and make me more money at the same time.

Good luck with this! I sort of wish I had the chance to attempt it, although 100 hubs is an awful lot for 30 days.
Mark: Good to see that the Hub challenge brought you back to writing in Hubpages. I understand about working from home, and not have interaction with others, though I enjoy solitude and the freedom of self employment, I do like to connect to friends and family so I travel twice a year to NY and Florida to get my "city fix", ( I now live in a rural town) and meet with family and friends.
Good luck with the hub challenge!
I could see the 30 in 30, 100 would be some serious work!
Hank and I are very excited about this. We're always up for a good challenge. We will be trying for the 30 in 30 days. Good luck to everyone!
Ah interesting - you are doing this on your own ID - I've started up a new ID and I'm using the 100 in 30 challenge to see what effect already having 1000 fans and an authorscore of 98 or so have on getting $$ from my hubs. Today the new me has an author score of 18 LOL! The profile had been lying around not doing anything for 6 months but is in fact indexed as is my first hub - go figure 18 though - not enough to drink in the US :-(
Hahahaha I had to laugh at you being bored! :-) I enjoy reading your hubs Mark. I look forward to reading more...
Good luck with this, Mark! I didn't take up the challenge as I'm not sure that I can stick to it with my freelance schedule. Still, a very cool and potentially profitable idea that I hope helps everyone brave enough to do it.
Don't forget to apply ice to your smoking brain when necessary. :)
Well, will be cheering you on, Mark!
100 Hubs in 30 Days is not that much if you have the time to apply to doing it. Especially at 400 words each - what will take you the longest will probably be the research (if you need to do any). I'm actually only going after 30, but hoping to do more, because I want to work on promoting while hubbing. Every body is taking different approaches, so it'll be interesting to see how the results vary. Best wishes!
The lack of human interaction is one of the major downfalls of working from home or creating an online income. That's why the HubPages forums can become so addictive! Do you think the HubPages forums will suffer with so many working on this HubChallenge?
good luck with challenge,I think with your experience you will be best.
Good luck
Nice plan Mark. I'm thinking about doing it too...we'll see.
I had never heard of you till you set up this challenge for yourself. Now I'm interested and rooting for you. Hope you do it!
Interesting to see how your 400 to 1 formala works out. Good luck!
Good luck I am certain you will do well with the challenge, looks like you are already off to a great start!
I will be following your progress, it is a motivation to set up a new speed on my side
You have barely started and already my inbox is overloading. :) Next time I log in,I expect to see smoke rising. LOL Good luck (did I say LUCK?) Oh well, you know what I mean. All the best to you.
How many hours a day (on average) do you write? (in total I mean, not just on HP).
$3/hr is good, if it sets a foundation for compunding, and/or residual income down the track. Hope?
I gathered that.
Hence the sunnies?
It sound great, but I am a newbie. hi...anyone please visit my hub. I am poor of comment. thanks
"sunnies" - Australian for "sunglasses"
Goes with "cossies" (swimming costumes). "mossies" (mosquitoes), and "tinnies" (cans of beer) at your standard "Aussie" beach BBQ.
Hiya I am rooting for ya..... and learning from your hubs.... after you have done this, get out and enjoy meeting real people...... only joking...... as long as you dont give up hub pages, you are a star!!!!!
Okay Mark, I know from reading that you can be crazy but how does 100 hubs in 30 days equate to more personal interaction with people? I'm assuming this brought you more interaction after the challenge? You are an awesome guy and I can't wait to read each and every one and flood you with more responses. :)
