Installing a flat panel wall mount in your home has numerous advantages. From being able to keep your home up to date and stylish, to clearing up the clutter and keeping your children safe, the advantages are fairly easy to see. However, one problem consumers do have is choosing the right type of bracket for their situation.
Depending on how much money you have to spend, and the type of home theater arrangement you are wanting to create, there are three different styles of flat panel wall mount brackets that you can choose from.
1. Low Profile – Low profile wall mounting brackets are going to be the cheapest type. They are also the easiest to install, which is great for novice do-it-yourself’ers. These types of brackets will mount the television to the wall like a picture frame. However, once a low profile bracket is installed, you are not able to reposition the angle of the TV. Low profile mounting brackets are best utilized in rooms where you are sitting directly in front of the television without any windows to create glare.
2. Articulating / Tilting – Tilting, or articulating wall brackets are slightly more expensive, but allow you to adjust the positioning of the television once you have it installed.
Mounting A Flat Panel TV
A tilting flat panel wall mount will allow you to adjust the vertical and horizontal movement of the TV, to help reduce glare from any windows that may be in the room. This also means that you have a lot more freedom in terms of living area design, instead of being forced to keep your furniture directly in front of the television.
3. Full Motion – When you need complete freedom with your television, you will want to consider a full motion flat panel wall mount bracket. As the name implies, a full motion bracket allows you to move the entire television both vertical, horizontally, and away from the wall.
These types of brackets include an arm that attaches to the wall, and your television, to provide a full range of motion. Full motion brackets are also the most expensive style, and require heavy duty mounting hardware (typically included in your kit) to ensure your television doesn’t end up on the floor. Depending on your budget, as well as what you require from your home theater, you have three basic options to choose from.
Low profile brackets are going to be the most common types you see, however they do not allow for adjustments of the viewing angle. Tilting wall mount brackets provide the movement, and carry an increased price tag, but are considerably better if you can afford one. For the ultimate home theater, a full motion bracket could be what you need, especially if you are a capable do-it-yourself home owner.

Now your talking just what I am looking for in my small Unit
Good detail. We had a small area and did not require full motion from our flat panel wall mount. If we'd had that capability, we'd likely be in divorce court!
